These guidelines are applicable to our current release only. They are split into 3 sections: Client, SQL Server, and Cloud hosting.

SQL Server
We do not offer specific Server hardware requirements, as 123insight will run on any Windows Server (2012*** / 2016 / 2019 /2022) able to meet Microsoft's recommended hardware for the supported version of SQL you have installed, considering other roles the server performs.
However, we recommend solid state (SSD) storage for the databases for best performance. These require at least 2GB free but please note the databases grow and may need more space in the future.
Supported SQL versions: 2014 / 2016 / 2017 / 2019.
Note, SQL Express is only recommended for customers with under 5 licences or standalone installations due to the hardware utilisation limits imposed by Microsoft.
123 Insight Limited does not provide hardware or operating systems as described above, nor are we able to support hardware or operating systems. We recommend Windows Server and SQL Server should not be installed by anyone who does not fully understand the complexities of this software.
Cloud hosting
Many customers successfully host 123insight using a recommended cloud approach where 123insight client software and SQL databases are hosted in the same environment in Azure or similar using full virtual servers (RDS / Remote Apps or Citrix is required for the client software).
In addition, when hosting 123insight the following should be taken into consideration:
- The client server must have MS Office installed to use our Excel export/import or Outlook email creation functions
- Label printing may not be available
- The optional 123mobile application may be slower compared to an 'on premise' setup. Tablets will also need internet access to the cloud server via a fixed external IP or domain name.
